Checking
and Setting up your ride
Before
riding, take the time to learn how the components of your ride should be set up
and checked.
Always
check for correctly fastened components and damage.
Do not ride
equipment with loose, broken or cracked components.
Make sure
any grip tape is secure.
Make sure
equipment is suitable for your size and weight. Set up your equipment to
suit your weight and ensure the correct function is checked. On skateboards,
check for wheel-bite and eliminate it. Wheel-bite is when the wheels rub
against the underside of the deck when leaning - it can stop your board and
cause you to fall. Wheel-bite can happen if your trucks are too loose. You
might choose to fit harder bushings. You might want to fit riser pads. If riser
pads are added, make sure your bolts are long enough to fit correctly.
Wheels and
bearings
Bearings
can be gently removed using a bearing press tool. Do not hit the bearings to
remove them – you will damage them. New bearings will be coated with a thick
and sticky factory grease. Learn how to clean your bearings and apply speed
cream, and do this whenever needed.
When you
refit a wheel, ensure you have learned the correct procedure and you have the
necessary components. On scooters use thread locker and tighten the screws
thoroughly. On skateboards do up the wheel nut to full tightness and then ease
of a quarter of a turn at a time only, until your wheel spins fast. Make sure
you can see threaded bar protruding at least 3mm through your wheel nut, and
that the nylon locking mechanism of your nut is stopping the nuts from undoing
during use. Wheel nuts must be replaced if the nylon inside is wearing out.
Skateboards
and Skateboard decks
You have 14
days to inspect and return skateboards and skateboard decks, in unused
condition, and in the same condition in which they were sold. We cannot accept
back goods that have been assembled, gripped, ridden or damaged by
customers. Goods must be returned in re-sellable condition. Skateboard decks can snap if
landed upon heavily, or can splinter or dent on impact, decals can be rubbed or
scratched off, or can peel or flake with varying humidities and riding
conditions, therefore manufacturer warranties will only cover for faulty manufacturing.
We may offer goods at a discounted price if we have identified marks or
defects. Discounted decks, including those on some of our discounted
skateboards, have discounts applied because there are marks or scrapes on the
deck, uneven wood or the decal, faults in the decals, or faults or marks
on the griptape or it's edge cuts. If an item is described as discounted,
please read the details on the website for that item, and check the details in
the photographs. Customers in the shop can ask an assistant to point out the
reasons for discounts. Customers agree that if they buy goods at the disocunted
price, they have satifsfied themselves that they know and accept the reasons
for the discount, and they wish to purchase at the discounted price. Customers
still have the right to return the item in the same and unused condition as it
was sold, within 14 days, and may be refunded the amount paid, even if it is a
discounted item.
Squeaking
when riding or turning on a skateboard
This is
perfectly normal. The squeaking usually comes from the pivot cup in your
trucks. It is the insert in between the hangar and the baseplate. Quick fixes
for the squeak can be; cleaning the pivot cup, or inserting a small amount of
paraffin wax shavings, or soap into the pivot cup – this reduces the friction
and can stop the squeak.
The 14 day
Inspection period
Use the
Warranty information below to see if any found defects are covered. If during
the Inspection Period (within 14 days of receipt of the Goods), the Goods are
found to be defective, you must inform us within the Inspection Period of such
defect. We will arrange for collection of such Goods or ask you to return the
Goods to us at our cost and once we have checked that the Goods are faulty, we
will in consultation with you: Replace the Goods; or Repair the Goods; or
Provide you with a full refund for those defective Goods.
Under the
Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges)
Regulations 2013 if you purchase Goods from us via our catalogue or on the Site
and you are a UK/EU consumer, you are able to cancel your order with us for any
reason or no reason at all within fourteen (14) days following receipt of your
Goods by providing us with notice. Your rights of cancellation are in addition
to your other rights of cancellation set out in these Conditions. Goods should
be returned to us as soon as reasonably practicable but in no event later than
fourteen (14) days after your notification to us that you wish to cancel your
order.
Defects
If your
item is defective, we will do our best to get you back on your wheels! If you
believe something is defective with your product, but you are not entirely sure
what the issue is, contact us so we can run you through a few steps to help
solve your problem. At times, issues are small and fixable with a few quick
adjustments.
On
skateboards, if all four wheels do not touch the ground on your new board you
will first need to check your truck tightness, and check for uneven or damaged
bushings. This is a common problem. Rarely, a deck may be warped, in which case
it will need returning in unused condition.
Returns and
refunds in the case of Shortages, damage and order errors
If there
are shortages or damages to the Goods you receive which have occurred whilst in
transit, or there is any other error with your order (such as you have received
the wrong product), you must notify us within 14 days of receipt of your
delivery (the "Inspection Period"), giving us full details of any
such shortages, damages or errors with the Goods or your order. You must
promptly return any damaged Goods or Goods received in error to us together
with all packaging. We will reimburse you for the postage costs incurred in
returning such Goods. This is best done by contacting us for a shipping label.
Where we accept that there has been damage in transit, a shortage or an error
in the Goods dispatched, we shall make up any shortfall, error or damage to your
order free of charge as soon as reasonably possible, or organise a refund.
After the Inspection Period has expired, you will be deemed to have
accepted the Goods and any attempt to return the Goods after this time pursuant
to this clause will be rejected by us.
WARRANTies
Manufacturers provide limited warranties for sports equipment. Some
examples are below. Warranties will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. All
are void if products are modified in any way. Even dropping a scooter is deemed
as misuse - so successful manufacturer warranty claims tend to be limited to
manufacturing defects only. We will return an item to the manufacturer on your
behalf. However we cannot guarantee results. Proof of purchase from
Skatenotbored must be provided. Please
contact us at https://skatenotbored.com Tel 01202 916411 with any issues.
